RULES AND REGULATIONS:
1. Presence at classes, seminars and lectures is obligatory, according to the regulations of studies.
2. Participation in the classes is carried out in accordance with the principles of observing the epidemiological regime.
3. Completion of the course takes place after the end of the classes cycle resulting from the curriculum. Completion of the course Histology with embryology and cytophysiology is based on:
a) pass all classes
b) pass all partials
c) passing practical tests
d) attendance at classes
e) keeping a notebook with correctly prepared drawings
f) positive assessment of the student's attitude made by the teachers during both semesters.
4. Unexcused absences:
A student cannot have unexcused absence during two semesters. Unexcused absence is the basis for failure to complete the course.
5. Excused absences:
A student may have a maximum of three (3) excused absences during the entire course (semester I and II in total).
In random cases resulting in a greater number of excused absences, the Head of the Department decides about continuing education.
Absences are excused as follows:
a) a medical certificate
b) certificate of the Dean or Vice-Rector for Education (this absence is not included in the limit of justified absences)
The justification on the basis of a medical certificate is presented by the student within 7 days of the absence. They will not be honored later.
In the event of an excused absence, the student has the right to pass a practice test for the following classes or on a date agreed with the person conducting the classes.
6. Failure to pass the course of histology with embryology and cytophysiology concerns students who:
a) exceeded the number of absences specified in points 4 and 5 of the Regulations
b) have not completed overdue classes or credits by the end of the session in the winter semester (semester I) or by the end of the summer session (semester II)
c) show no progress in science
d) obtained a negative assessment of the attitude made in the evaluation questionnaire during both semesters.
 7. Passing overdue practice or final tests:
The student has the opportunity to improve the failed classes during histology classes, but not later than in the last class in this module.
The student has the option of improving failed partial tests during the last class or additionally within the time limit agreed with the person conducting the classes. The student has the option to improve the practical test within the time limit agreed with the person conducting the test within 2 practice weeks following the failed test. The student may attempt to improve the practical test twice.
Completion of outstanding practice or final tests after the end of the semester:
The student has the right to credit the arrears until the end of the retake session in semester I (winter) and by the end of the summer session in semester II (summer). In the case of crediting after the end of the second (summer) semester at the end of the teaching cycle, the student receives a fail grade on the date of the exam in the summer session and has the right to take the exam on the first retake date.
8. Completion of the course in the event of failure to achieve the point minimum:
Students who, after taking all the practice and final tests in a given semester, have not achieved the point minimum, have the option of completing the curriculum content by proceeding to complete the entire semester in the form of a test or oral answer.
9. The student's attitude is assessed by the person conducting the exercises in each semester. Activity during exercises, cooperation with the person conducting the exercises and other students, as well as personal culture are assessed. An academic teacher may award 2 additional points for an activity during exercises for a given activity. In case of grossly negative behavior, the student may be assessed negatively.
Condition for taking the final exam is to pass both semesters in accordance with the Histology Scoring System.
Semester I (winter) ends with a credit with a grade, which depends on the number of collected points. Semester II (summer) ends with a credit without a grade.
The exam consists of two parts: a practical exam and a theory exam in the form of a multiple-choice test (100 questions). The condition for taking the theoretical exam is obtaining a positive grade in the practical exam. Obtaining a negative grade in the practical exam results in entering an unsatisfactory grade on the 1st exam date and the necessity to pass the entire exam on the 1st retake date in the retake session. The condition for passing the theoretical exam is obtaining 60% correct answers. The condition for passing the practical exam is to present 6 correct diagnoses from a set of 9 histological preparations and 1 electronogram.
If the student obtained 10 points (maximal number) from practical exam the final grade (3 and more) will be higher about half grade.

A scoring system is used to continuously and objectively evaluate advances in the science of histology, embryology, and cytophysiology.
The following elements of the didactic process are scored: classes, theoretical tests, practical tests.
1. Classes - quiz in the form of (9 questions – multiple choice questions).
For the correct answer - the student may receive 1 point.
In total, for the test, the student can get from 0 - 9 points.
During the year, all classes in a given module will be assessed, except for class no.1 in the Basic of Medicine A module (first class in the 1st semester).

2. Partial test contains 30 questions (multiple choice), concerning the content of the implemented program. Each module ends with partial test.
For each correct answer - 1 point.
In total, you can get 0-30 points for the test.

If the student obtained 0 points for one of the tests and did not obtain a sufficient number of points to pass the semester, he may correct them with the assistant on a retake test at the end of a semester or on a date agreed with the person conducting the classes.

3. Practical test - recognition and orientation in histological preparations and basic methods of histological research.
Each correctly identified preparation - 2 points
The prerequisite for the practical pass is the recognition of 3 out of 5 histological preparations and obtaining a minimum of 6 points.
The maximum number of points that can be obtained for a practical - 10 points
Modules in the winter and summer semesters end with a practical module test.
4. Seminars:
The prerequisite for passing the seminars in each module is the presence in the classroom and preparation of an essay for each module on the topic designated by the assistant.
Conditions for passing each module:
1. Achieving a minimum of 60% of the total points for practice tests, partials and practicals.
3. Positive evaluation of the essay presented.
4. The pass mark is also to present a correctly kept exercise book with preparation drawings.
5. The student is obliged to correct each failed class, from which he received 0 points, because he will not be credited despite the point threshold reached.
6. After correcting the overdue class, the student will receive the minimum number of points needed to complete the course in the module.
The student has the option of completing the material from the tutorials at the tutoring assistant in the case of absence justified by a sick leave in the week following the absence or on a date agreed with the tutor. Passing partial tests in the case of receiving too few points or absences take place on the date agreed with the person conducting the exercises.
Semester I (winter) ends with a credit with a grade, which depends on the number of points:
190 - 201 - 5.0
169 - 189 - 4.5
158 - 168 - 4.0
151 - 157 - 3.5
121 - 150 - 3.0
<120 - 2.0

Examination of the subject HISTOLOGY WITH EMBRIOLOGY AND CYTOPHYSIOLOGY:
The subject is taught by a final examination.
The condition for taking the final exam is passing all modules of both semesters in accordance with the Histology Scoring System.
The exam consists of two parts: a practical exam and a theory exam in the form of a multiple-choice test (100 questions). The condition for taking the theoretical exam is obtaining a positive grade in the practical exam. Obtaining a negative grade in the practical exam results in entering a unsatisfactory grade on the 1st exam date and the necessity to pass the entire exam on the 1st retake date in the retake session. The condition for passing the theoretical exam is obtaining 60% correct answers. The condition for passing the practical exam is to present 6 correct diagnoses from a set of 9 scanned histological preparations and 1 electronogram. If the student obtained 10 points (maximal number) from practical exam the final grade will be higher about half grade.
Conditions for obtaining a credit for the subject:
Final grade from the subject will be the net value based on the grades obtained during (1) Final exam performed by the UMLUB Department (70% - 0.7) (vide above) and (2) NBME subject shelf-exam (30% - 0.3). For example, if student gained 65% of correct answers during UMLUB exam and 55% during NBME exam – the final score will be: 65% x 0.7 + 55% x 0.3 = 62% (grade 3.0).
1st and 2nd retake will be performed only by the UMLUB Department.
The final score:
< 60  %         2
60-67 %        3
>67-75 %       3,5
>75-83%        4
>83-90%      4,5
>90-100%      5

The result of the exam is approved by the Head of the Department, and each additional student activity related to the learning outcomes achieved may affect the final grade.
